BinktermPHP is an open source modern web-based BBS and FidoNet
mailer — a love letter to the golden age of bulletin board
systems, rebuilt for the web with PHP, PostgreSQL, and Bootstrap.

If you grew up on BBSes, or you're just drawn to niche protocol
work and community-driven software, this might be your kind of
    project.

I plan on using this in my homelab. I currently run an official BBS
using Synchronet, but your project allows the new generation to learn
more about BBSs through a modern interface.

In my opinion, it’s possible to maintain the original BBS style while
using new technologies. The only issue is compatibility with older
browsers and systems, where Synchronet still offers a complete 'classic' experience.
Suggestion: Add translation support to the project.

    Congratulations! Great project!

Thanks for the feedback, it's helpful to think about. My hope is the new
BBS menu shell will expand to bridge the classic BBS gap, but in the end
I tend to lean towards the telnet service being the 'traditional' interface for the system.

Suggestion: Add translation support to the project.

Yes I plan to add translation support. It's been on my mind recently.

    Congratulations! Great project!

Thanks! It's been fun working on it!

Check this post out on reddit - it looks really good and works with Synchronet.
I'll have to look at updating my sync system to play around with it some time.

It's just a theme, it's nothing special. His link to dovenet is wrong, also.

I really love that you added RIP support. That was such a great technology.

Thanks for reminding me to add web telnet access. Easy way to get connected.

Is it just coincidence that another AI-written BBS website is also using a purple background? Entropy, I think is the other one ;).

Wouldn't it be easy for people to just hit the translate button in their web browser since it's just a web page? :)

It would probably be good enough for a BBS yeah. On the other hand it also serves for customizing strings to be what one wants using the language editor and with it loading the default language automatically makes it appear more seamless (based on user's OS/browser language and personal setting).

Now whether robot made translations are correct, that's another matter entirely.
