My 22yo daughter wasn't familiar with the Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos story at all (just too young I guess)...
And if you haven't seen "The Dropout" (fictionalized Hulu series about the same topic), you should see that first.

I was curious about this documentary (the previews looking intriguing
and funny) and when I started reading reviews of the movie, it was
clear there was some kind of unexpected twist.

I'm much older and I've never heard of her either.

And what is the topic?
I have not seen the dropout, though I've been meaning to. I had read about her in some magazine article when she was becoming famous around the tech and medical world, did not know what the end of the story was until I picked up a copy of "Bad Blood" from the local library (what I assume the dropout was largely based off of.) If you want to never, ever trust what a CEO in silicon valley says ever again, and generally just be horrified about how gullible those that you would assume are smart enough to pick out a scam artist, you gotta read that book. It seems like unless you picked up either that book or the dropout, the news of what elizabeth holmes and theranos did quickly got wrapped up in the rest of the news cycle for most. The topic was Elizbeth Holmes, the young female prodigy CEO of Theranos (a medical device/tech company) that wasMy 22yo daughter wasn't familiar with the Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos story at all (just too young I guess)...And what is the topic?

I had never heard of her either, and truthfully though you were speaking of some super hero and her side-kick :-)

clear there was some kind of unexpected twist. I like surprises, so I intentionally didn't read any spoilers and I took my family to see it
this weekend. My 22yo daughter wasn't familiar with the Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos story at all (just too young I guess), but they all
really enjoyed it as did I.
There's plenty to debate and discuss about this movie, but I wouldn't
want to spoil it for anyone. You should see it. And if you haven't
seen "The Dropout" (fictionalized Hulu series about the same topic),
you should see that first. There's a famous book and other documentaries/shows on this topic of course as well.

It's clear in the film that Nathan lived in the home for part of the duration and the production crew was recording audio and video most
of the time. Are you saying that Elizabeth and her partner were
recording the film makers? Wouldn't surprise me at all.
whats also interesting is nathan was not supposed to be viewed in the documentary but elizabeth and other circumstances pulled him into

Probably Soft-CRs. Synchronet can strip or convert them automatically
if you configure it so.
I didn't read Bad Blood, but probably should. I think I've seen all the other news magazine episodes (e.g. 60What the news articles didn't capture (and unfortunately feels like nearly as big a tragedy as the voided blood tests) are the smart engineers that got wrapped up in her orbit. A lot of them should have known better (and you can tell they talked to carreyrou, the WSJ reporter that broke the story, out of that sense of remorse.) Some of them I presume were out of their depth. Most of the ones profiled are people given an impossible problem, and get a solution close enough that should be viewed as an engineering marvel. Unfortunately, most of the ones profiled only worked on one portion of a problem (how to get a robot to handle impossibly tiny amounts of blood in a compact space, but not the accuracy of the machines they fed the blood to for instance), but assume someone in a different silo in the company will come up with the solution for a problem they see arising out of it. Lots of intimidation and manipulation when the smarter engineers figure out what's going on, one engineer ends up taking their own life from the stress and some of the story in the WSJ is pieced from the resulting court proceedings. The only ones left by the time the edison is in full use seem to be useful idiots.
minutes, HBO, etc.) about the story. Her story was pretty prevalent in my sphere, but I live and work in California
and tech, so maybe that's why. In 2019, I even interviewed a software engineer that previously worked at Theranos;
the guy was, not surprisngly, a bluffer.
