I hadn't thought about the privacy issues a whole lot until recently.
I've thought about finding another email service provider, though I do like the Gmail interface (and its use of labeling emails), and I'm not sure yet if another email service provides that type of functionality.

Proton mail is the best I think, ergonomic, full of functionalities,
and full PRIVACY. It do Labeling! :0) Regards,

    Somewhere In Time..

I've never used it, but know people that have used proton mail. :-)
    Always heard great things!

    Regards,

Protonmail shares an issue with Tuta (formely Tutanota), which is they don't have an universal protocol for accessing emails. So no POP3/IMAP, which is a deal breaker for serious ussage.

But then Tuta's web interface requires a Web Assembly blob which automatically makes their site much worse IMO.

I have heard, and am not sure it's actually true, that email coming from
a Proton address is sometimes blocked by some email servers, as it's seen
    as potentially "shady".

I'd actually like to know if that's really true.

I have personally never experienced that using Proton, but I am not a heavy Proton user myself.

On the other hand, some underground communities play it the other way around - they only accept Proton email addresses for registration because they are aware people would just use Gmail otherwise, and when you are running a movie piracy site or whatever you don't want Google to see all of your traffic.

It's great until any sort of authority requests your emails. In which case it is their policy to just hand em over. Probably don't need any sort of formal request, just "Hi this is X Police, plz 2 hand over all of this user's data" and they go "Sure, no problem!" but probably in Swiss or something.
